Chartaque

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a fort or a castle? A chartaque is kind of like a small version of those!

It's a little wooden structure that was used in the past as a military outpost or a watchtower. It's like a tiny house but made for soldiers to use.

The chartaque usually had tall walls made of wood, with slits or holes in the walls so that soldiers could see outside and shoot arrows or other weapons through them. There would also be a roof, which could be flat or pointed, to help protect the soldiers from the weather.

The soldiers would use a chartaque as a lookout or a defensive position. They could keep an eye out for enemies or warn their own troops if they saw anything suspicious.

So, despite being small, a chartaque was an important part of military strategy in the past!
