Chattering classes is a phrase used to describe people who talk a lot and spend a lot of time talking about topics which may not be that important or interesting to others. It usually refers to people who are well-educated and well-off, who spend a lot of time talking about current events and other people's opinions. Usually these conversations are long and dig into everything: who said what and why, what people think of certain events, and why some people behave the way they do. It is like having lots of different conversations in one!
