Chemoreceptor trigger zone

The chemoreceptor trigger zone is like a little group of sensors in our brains that helps us know when something yucky might be going into our stomachs. Just like how we have taste buds on our tongues that tell us if something is sour or sweet, these sensors in our brains can detect if there are certain chemicals in the blood that might mean we ate something bad or took a medicine that doesn't agree with us. When these sensors detect those chemicals, they send a message to another part of our brain that tells our bodies to throw up. So, basically, the chemoreceptor trigger zone helps us avoid getting sick from things we eat or drink that might harm us.
