Cher Ami

Cher Ami is a name that was given to a special bird. Cher Ami was a homing pigeon, which means it was trained to fly back to its home no matter where it was.

During World War I, soldiers used homing pigeons to help send messages to their commanders. This was important because there weren't cell phones or computers like we have today. One of these messenger pigeons was Cher Ami.

Cher Ami was a brave bird who helped save the lives of many soldiers. In 1918, during a big battle, a group of soldiers were trapped and needed help. They wrote a message and tied it to Cher Ami's leg. The message said where the soldiers were and that they needed urgent help.

Cher Ami then flew through a lot of dangerous areas, dodging bullets and avoiding other dangerous obstacles. When it reached the soldiers' headquarters, Cher Ami was very tired and had been badly hurt. But it had successfully delivered the message, and the soldiers were saved.

Cher Ami's bravery and quick thinking made it a hero and earned it the title of "Cher Ami," which means "dear friend" in French. Cher Ami was also awarded a medal of bravery, which is a very special honor.
