ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chibanian

Chibanian is a special name given to a specific time period in the Earth's history. Think of the Earth's history like a big book and each chapter has its own title. The Chibanian chapter is about a time in the past when the Earth was going through some big changes.

Scientists use special tools to study the rocks and dirt on the Earth's surface to figure out what happened during this time. They found out that during the Chibanian, there were lots of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions happening all over the world.

They also discovered that some animals, like ancient elephants and hippos, were evolving and changing during this time. It's kind of like how you grow taller and stronger as you get older, but these animals were changing over much longer periods of time.

Overall, the Chibanian was a really important time in the Earth's history because it helped shape the world we live in today.
