ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Child displacement

Child displacement is a big word that means when a child has to leave their home and go somewhere else. This can happen for many different reasons, like if there is a big storm or flood and it's not safe to stay at home, or if the child's parents are sick and they need to go stay with another family member.

Sometimes child displacement happens because there is a war or fighting in the child's country, and it's not safe to stay there anymore. In these cases, the child might have to leave with their family or by themselves and go to a new country where they can be safe.

It can be really hard for a child to be displaced, because they might not know where their family is or when they will get to go back home. But there are people who work to help displaced children, by giving them a safe place to stay, food to eat, and things to do to keep busy.

Even though child displacement can be tough, it's important to remember that there are people who care about these kids and want to help them feel safe and happy.
