ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chilean Swedes

So, you know how some people are born in one country but then they move to another country and become citizens of that place? Well, Chilean Swedes are people who were born in Chile (a country in South America) but then they moved to Sweden (a country in Europe) and became citizens of Sweden.

This can happen for lots of reasons. Maybe their parents moved to Sweden for work or maybe they fell in love with someone from Sweden and decided to move there. Whatever the reason, Chilean Swedes have a connection to both Chile and Sweden.

It's like if you were born in Florida but then your family moved to California when you were a kid. You would still be American but you would also have a connection to both Florida and California.

Chilean Swedes may have a unique culture because they have influences from both Chilean and Swedish traditions. For example, they may celebrate holidays from both countries or eat foods that are popular in both places.

Overall, being a Chilean Swede is just one way that people can have a connection to two different countries and cultures.
