Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China and is celebrated by Chinese people all over the world. It marks the start of a new year and is celebrated with a lot of food, decorations, and performances. It usually starts on the first day of the first month of the Chinese calendar and lasts for 15 days. People usually wear red clothes because it is said to bring good luck and they give gifts to each other as a way of wishing each other good luck. On the first day of the new year, families have a big dinner together and then they visit friends and family to wish them 'Happy New Year' with special treats. On the last day of the festival, called the Lantern Festival, people carry brightly lit lanterns and watch dragon and lion dances.
