ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Christian views on sin

Okay kiddo, let's talk about sin. In Christianity, sin means doing things that go against what God wants us to do. It's like when mommy or daddy tell you not to touch something because it's hot and you do it anyway. That's a sin.

Christians believe that everyone is born with a tendency to sin, sort of like a bad habit. When we do things that are wrong, it can hurt us and others around us. God wants us to be good and loving to each other and sin goes against that.

Some Christians believe that there are different types of sin, some are big and some are small. Big sins are things like murder, stealing, or lying a lot. Small sins are things like talking back to your parents or not sharing your toys. But, no matter what type of sin it is, it's still wrong.

The good news is, Christians believe that God forgives us when we ask for it and try to do better. It's like saying sorry to mommy or daddy when you do something wrong. God loves us and wants us to be happy, so he helps us to stop sinning and to be good to others.

So, it's important to remember not to do things that hurt ourselves or others, and to always try to be the best version of ourselves.
