Christmas truce was something that happened during World War 1. On Christmas day in 1914, soldiers from the countries at war (France, Germany, Britain, etc.) spontaneously stopped fighting. They put down their guns, stopped shooting, and even started talking to the enemy soldiers. Some of them even got together and sang Christmas carols, shared cigarettes, and played soccer. It was a special day of peace in a war that had caused so much destruction and death.
