The Christopher Commission was a commission in Los Angeles, California created to review the policies governing the use of force by police officers. The commission was created after a police officer was seen on video beating Rodney King, a Black man. The commission recommended over 60 changes to the Los Angeles Police Department, including better police training, stricter policies, and better civilian oversight of police officers. The Christopher Commission made it easier for people to report police misconduct, and more discipline for officers who abused their power. The changes made by the commission have made cities all over the world safer for people and police officers.
