ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Church of Science

The Church of Science isn't actually a real church that you can go to like you might go to a church with a steeple or a mosque with a minaret. It's more of a way of thinking about science that some people believe in.

Science is like a big puzzle, and scientists all over the world are constantly working to fit the pieces together. They use methods like experiments, observations, and calculations to learn more about how the world works. The Church of Science is based on the idea that science can answer most, if not all, of the big questions we have about the universe.

But just like there are many different religions in the world, there are also many different ways to think about science. Some people believe that science should only be used to study the natural world, while others think it can be used to answer questions about morality and ethics as well.

Ultimately, the Church of Science is about believing in the power of science to help us understand the world around us. It's like having faith that the scientific method is a reliable way of discovering the truth. But unlike a traditional religion, the Church of Science doesn't have any gods or divine beings to worship - instead, it celebrates the wonder and mystery of the natural world.
