Ciliate

Ciliates are tiny living things that can be found in water and soil. They are very special because they have tiny hairs all over their body called cilia, which they use to move and capture their food.

Just like you use your legs to move, ciliates use their cilia to swim around. They also use their cilia to create currents of water that bring food towards them and then they capture it using their "mouths".

Ciliates are also very good at reproducing. They can multiply quickly by dividing themselves in half. This means that one ciliate can become two, then four, then eight, and so on.

Even though they are very small and might seem unimportant, ciliates play an important role in our environment. They help keep the soil and water clean by eating and breaking down dead organic matter.
