The Cincinnati Time Store was a store in Cincinnati, Ohio that opened in1827. It was the first store of its kind in the United States. It worked like this: shoppers would come in and pick out items they would like to buy. Instead of paying with money, they would pay with the time they had worked. They would tell the store how much time they had worked, and the store would give them credit for that time. The shoppers would then use that credit to buy the items they wanted. This system was very popular in the 1800s and it was a great way for people who didn't have much money to still buy the things they needed.
