Circle cotter

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a bicycle or a car wheel? Well, they have something called a "hub" in the center which helps them spin. Now, to keep the hub from falling out of the wheel, we need something that will hold it in place, and that's where a circle cotter comes in.

A circle cotter is a tiny piece of metal that is shaped like a circle with a split in it. Picture a doughnut with a cut in the middle that lets it open up. This split allows us to slide the cotter onto a rod (like the bolt that holds the wheel in place) and then close it up with pliers.

Once the circle cotter is closed up, it keeps the bolt from moving and keeps the hub securely in place. It's like a little lock that helps the wheel stay put while we ride our bike or drive our car.

So, the circle cotter is an important little piece of metal that helps keep things from falling apart!
