Circulating fluidized bed
A circulating fluidized bed is like a really big pillow fort that's full of tiny particles. Imagine playing with a bucket of sand at the beach, but instead of just sitting there, the sand moves around on its own in a big circle.
In a circulating fluidized bed, air blows through the tiny particles to keep them moving around in a big circle. This keeps the particles from getting stuck in one place and helps them react with other things in the bed.
Circulating fluidized beds are used to do lots of cool things, like burning fossil fuels without making too much pollution or making electricity by burning biomass like wood chips. The tiny particles in the bed help trap some of the bad stuff that would normally go into the air or water, so it's easier to keep things clean.
