Clarion (instrument)

A clarion is a musical instrument that makes a loud, high-pitched sound like a bird's chirp or a whistle. It looks like a small trumpet with a curved shape and has three or four keys for the player to press. When a person blows into it, the air travels through a small opening called a mouthpiece and into the instrument's tubing. The player then presses the keys to change the notes they are playing. It might be easier to think of it like a bird whistle that you can change the sound of by pressing different buttons. The clarion is commonly used in medieval and Renaissance music and sometimes in modern orchestras.
