Cleomenes I

Hello kiddo! Today we're going to talk about a historical figure from a long time ago named Cleomenes I. Back then, people lived in Ancient Greece, and Cleomenes was a king of a city called Sparta.

So, imagine a big castle on top of a hill where Cleomenes lived and made important decisions. He was a very strong and brave king who wanted to make his city even better than it already was. He wanted his people to be happy and live good lives.

One of the things that Cleomenes did to make Sparta great was to make sure that the soldiers who protected the city were really well trained. He wanted them to be the best fighters in all of Greece! Kids your age might play with toy swords, but the soldiers in Sparta used real shields, spears, and swords to practice their fighting skills.

Cleomenes also liked to help his friends and make good relationships with other rulers in Greece. But sometimes, things didn't always go his way. He got into a few fights with other cities and kings because they didn't agree with him. It was kind of like when you and your friends can't agree on what game to play!

Eventually, Cleomenes passed away, but he's still remembered as an important king who made Sparta a strong and powerful city.
