Clerk (surname)

A surname is like a last name that people use to identify members of their family. A clerk is a type of job where a person helps with keeping track of information and handling paperwork. When someone has the surname Clerk, it means that at some point in history, one of their ancestors had that job as their profession. So, just like how some people have last names that come from where they live or what their ancestors did, some people have the last name Clerk because their ancestors worked as clerks a long time ago.
