Closed-circuit television

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is like a regular television, except that the signal is not broadcast. Instead, it is sent through wires to a set of special cameras that record what is happening in a certain area. For example, in some stores, you may see cameras on the walls or in the ceiling. Those cameras are linked to a TV screen in the back room that can show the storeowner what is happening in the store from the camera's point of view. This way, the storeowner can keep an eye on things without physically being there.
