Closed-cone pine forest

Okay, so imagine you're in a really big park. This park is full of trees that are called pine trees. Pine trees have needles instead of leaves and they don't lose their needles in the fall like other trees do.

Now, some of these pine trees in this park are growing really close together. They are so close that if you tried to walk through them, it would be really hard because there isn't much space to walk.

This area where the pine trees are growing so close together is called a closed-cone pine forest.

Because the pine trees are so close together, it is hard for other plants or trees to grow in this area. This means that the forest floor, which is the ground underneath the trees, is usually covered in pine needles instead of other plants or grass.

Animals that live in this closed-cone pine forest are also adapted to living in this kind of environment. Some animals, like squirrels, eat the pine cones that fall from the trees. Other animals, like deer, might live in this area but they might not spend as much time here because it is hard for them to move around.

So, a closed-cone pine forest is a really close group of pine trees that usually don't have a lot of other plants or animals living in the same area. It's a special type of forest that you might find in some parts of the world!
