A clothes dryer is a machine that helps to dry clothes after they have been washed. You put wet clothes inside the dryer and it blows hot air around them to dry them.
Imagine that your clothes are still wet after you wash them. They feel heavy and damp. But you don't want to wait a long time for them to dry on their own. That's where the clothes dryer comes to help.
The dryer has a big drum inside where you put your wet clothes. Then you close the door and turn it on. The drum starts to spin around and around like a big wheel. At the same time, the dryer heats up and blows hot air into the drum.
The hot air makes the wet clothes dry by evaporating the water from them. It's kind of like when you put water on your skin and then blow on it to make it dry faster.
When all the water has been evaporated, the dryer blows the damp air out of a vent and into outside air. You can feel the warm air coming out of the vent if you stand near it.
Once the clothes are dry, the dryer stops spinning and the door opens so you can take the clothes out. Then you fold them neatly and put them away in your closet.
Just remember to always follow the instructions on your clothes dryer carefully to make sure you use it safely and properly.
