ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Co-construction (linguistics)

Co-construction (linguistics) is when two people talk to each other and use their words and ideas to build something new together. It's like two people building a tower out of blocks - they each bring different blocks and help each other make the tower higher and higher. In linguistics, co-construction is when two people use their words and ideas to form something together. For example, when two friends are talking, they might use their ideas to joke and make the conversation more interesting. They might use words in new ways and have a conversation that isn't either person's idea alone - it's something they both co-created.
