Coat of arms of New Zealand

A coat of arms is a special symbol that represents a country. This symbol has different pictures or images that tell a story about the country it represents. In New Zealand, the coat of arms has some really cool pictures that mean different things.

First, there is a shield in the middle that has four different pictures in it. These are symbols that represent different parts of New Zealand. There is a wool sack that represents farming because New Zealand has lots of sheep. There is also a wheat sheaf that represents growing crops like wheat. The third symbol is a ship that represents when people first came to New Zealand from other parts of the world. Finally, there is a book that represents learning and education.

Above the shield, there is a crown with a cross on top. This represents the royal family of New Zealand and also the Christian faith.

On each side of the shield, there is an animal. One side has a Maori warrior with a club. This animal represents the native Maori people of New Zealand. The other side has a British lion. This animal represents the European settlers who came to New Zealand.

Finally, there is a banner at the bottom that says "New Zealand" in Maori and English. This is to show that the coat of arms belongs to New Zealand and represents all of the people who live there.
