Codling moth

Codling moth is a type of bug that likes to eat apples and pears. The bug lays its eggs on the fruit, and when the eggs hatch, the baby bugs eat their way inside the fruit. This can make the fruit taste bad and not good to eat.

To prevent codling moth from ruining the fruit, people use something called a trap. A trap is a special kind of thing that smells like a female codling moth. Male codling moths can't resist the smell, so they get stuck in the trap instead of flying around and laying eggs on the fruit.

Sometimes, people also use special sprays to kill the codling moth eggs before they hatch. This helps keep the fruit safe and tasty to eat.
