Hey there buddy! So, a looong time ago there were these big empires called Islamicate Empires. The people who lived there believed in a religion called Islam and they had some rules about what they could and couldn't eat or drink.
Now, one drink that was totally okay was coffee! But back then, coffee wasn't like the kind we have now. It wasn't in fancy coffee shops or made with fancy machines. It was actually just coffee beans that were roasted and then ground up.
People in the Islamicate Empires really liked coffee and they even made special places called coffeehouses where they could go and drink it with their friends. These coffeehouses were like our Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts today!
The thing is, some people did not like the idea of coffeehouses. They thought people were spending too much time there and not working enough. They even thought the coffeehouses were bad because people would go there to talk about ideas that some people didn't like.
But eventually, coffeehouses became super popular and people couldn't live without them. In fact, some people even started playing games and listening to music in the coffeehouses!
So there you have it buddy, in the Islamicate Empires, coffee was enjoyed by many people, and coffeehouses were a fun and important part of their culture. Cheers!
