Cognitive imitation

Have you ever watched someone do something and then tried to do it yourself? That is called imitation. When we imitate, we copy what others do.

Cognitive imitation is when we copy how others think or solve problems. For example, let’s say your teacher gives you a math problem that you have never seen before. You can try to solve it by using your own ways of thinking or you can watch how your friend solved a similar problem and try to do the same thing yourself.

Cognitive imitation is like using your friend’s brain to help you solve the problem. By watching and copying their way of thinking, you may learn a new problem-solving strategy that you can use in the future.

But remember, it’s important to also try to solve problems on your own because it helps your brain get stronger and smarter.
