Color gel

Think of color gel like markers or paints that you can use to change the color of light. Just like how you can draw or paint on paper to make it a different color, with color gel, you can put a different color layer on top of a light to make it look a different color.

So, let's say you have a white light bulb. You can take a piece of color gel, which is like a thin piece of colored plastic, and put it in front of the light. The light that comes through the gel will now be the color of the gel! It's kind of like putting a colored piece of glass in front of the light.

People use color gel a lot for things like theater or concerts to create different moods or to represent different things. For example, if you want a scene to look like it's happening at sunset, you might use a yellow or orange color gel to give the light that same warm, reddish tone.

The cool thing is that you can mix different colors of gel to make even more colors! So if you put a blue gel and a yellow gel together in front of a light, you might get a green color.
