Okay kiddo, so a combustion light-gas gun is a really fancy way of shooting things really, really fast. First, you put some fuel, like propane or hydrogen, into a small chamber. Then you add a little spark to ignite the fuel, kind of like lighting a match. When the fuel burns, it creates a lot of hot gas which wants to escape the chamber really fast.
Now here's the fun part! You take a small projectile, like a metal ball, and put it at the end of a long tube that's connected to the chamber. When the gas rushes out of the chamber, it pushes the projectile forward really fast, like a giant invisible gust of wind. The projectile can reach incredible speeds, even faster than a speeding bullet!
Scientists and engineers use combustion light-gas guns to study things like how materials withstand high speeds and pressures, or how objects behave when they collide. So it's kind of like playing with a really cool toy gun, but for science!
