Commercial fishing

Commercial fishing is when people catch fish from the ocean or other bodies of water and sell them. It’s like when you catch a fish during your fishing trip with your family, but on a much bigger scale!

People who do commercial fishing use special boats, nets, or fishing lines to catch a lot of fish all at once. They go out to sea for days or even weeks and catch fish around the clock. This can be hard work and sometimes it can be dangerous too, so fishermen need to be very careful and skilled.

They catch different kinds of fish like salmon, tuna, and cod. Some fish are caught in specific seasons because they’re not always available all year round. Once the fish are caught, they are brought back to shore where they are sorted and packed in ice to keep them fresh.

The fish are then sold at markets where people can buy them to eat. Some of the fish are even shipped to other countries! Commercial fishing helps people get the fish they need to eat, but it’s important to make sure that we don't catch too many fish or we could hurt our oceans and the fish population. So, it's important to make sure that we are fishing sustainably and protecting our oceans.
