Commission for Dark Skies

Alright kiddo, have you ever looked up at the sky at night and seen lots of stars? It's so beautiful and sparkly, right? Well, some people really love looking at the stars and studying them, and they need a nice, dark sky to do it.

Unfortunately, lots of things can make the sky not so dark, like streetlights, car headlights, and buildings with lots of lights on. This makes it hard for the star-gazers to see what they want to see.

That's where the commission for dark skies comes in. They work to make sure that certain areas have really dark skies, so that people who want to look at the stars can do it easily.

They might ask cities to use special lights that don't shine so brightly into the sky, or they might ask people to turn off their outside lights at night. Sometimes they even set up special places where people can go to look at the stars without any bright lights around.

So, the commission for dark skies helps make sure that some places have really dark skies, so that people who like to look at stars can do it easily and have a super fun time!
