The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) is a group of five private-sector organizations (the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial Executives Institute, the Institude of Internal Auditors and The Institute of Management Accountants). They work together to help companies manage their business risks and make sure their books are balanced and accurate. They created the Treadway Commission Report, which helps businesses understand how to recognize and prevent fraud. Companies can use the report to create anti-fraud policies and make sure their financial information is accurate and transparent.
