Committee of safety (American Revolution)

During the American Revolution, some colonists formed groups called Committees of Safety to help keep their communities safe and make plans to fight against the British. Imagine you and your friends create a club to protect your neighborhood and make sure everyone has enough food and supplies in case something bad happens. That's sort of what a Committee of Safety was like.

These committees were made up of local leaders, like farmers and businessmen, who wanted to help their community become independent from British rule. They would meet regularly to discuss strategies, plan defenses, and make sure everyone was doing their part to help support the cause. They played an important role in the American Revolution by pooling resources and coordinating efforts to fight against the British.

The Committees of Safety were often responsible for organizing local militias, groups of citizen soldiers who would fight against the British army if needed. They also helped to spread information about what was happening in other parts of the country, and coordinate with other Committees to share resources and support.

Overall, the Committees of Safety were an important part of the American Revolution, helping to keep the colonies safe and organize opposition to British rule.
