A common access card (also known as CAC) is a plastic card the size of a credit card. It looks a lot like a driver's license. It has information on it that tells people who you are and what job you do. Government employees and military personnel use them to show they have the right to access certain places and use special equipment. You can think of a CAC as an ID card that proves you have the right to get into certain secure places or use secure tools.
