ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Common Interface

A common interface is a way of having people interact with technology more easily. It is like a universal language that all technology can understand. In a common interface, all the devices, such as computers, cell phones, and even game consoles, are programmed so that they all respond to the same commands in the same way. That way, you can control them all with just one uniform set of instructions. For example, if you need to shut down your laptop, instead of typing something different for each type of laptop, you could use the same command on any laptop and all of them would recognize it and shut down.
