Common knowledge

Common knowledge is information that is widely known and accepted and is part of the shared experience and understanding of the world. It's usually seen as something that is OK to use without citing a source because everyone knows it. Some examples of common knowledge are that the sky is blue and the capital of the United States is Washington, D.C.
