Common table prayer

Okay kiddo, have you ever sat down to eat with your family and then everyone joins hands and says a little prayer before digging in? That's called a common table prayer.

It's a way of thanking God for the food on our plates and for the people we're sharing our meal with. Think about it like saying "please" and "thank you" to your parents, but instead we're talking to God.

Usually, the prayer is pretty simple and follows a similar structure. It might go something like this: "Come, Lord Jesus, be our guest and let these gifts to us be blessed. Amen." This is a way of asking for God's blessing on our food and gratitude for the people who prepared it.

So, next time you're about to have a meal with your family or friends, you can suggest saying a common table prayer to show appreciation for the food you're about to enjoy.
