Communication deviance

That's called communication deviance. It means that the way they're talking is abnormal or strange.

Sometimes, communication deviance can happen because someone has a mental illness or they're under a lot of stress. Other times, it can happen in families where there's a lot of conflict or tension. It can be hard to understand what someone means if they're not communicating clearly, so it's important to try to work on improving communication if you notice it happening.
