ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Communication protocol

Communication protocol is like a set of rules (like a game) that lets two different people (or machines) share information. It's like an agreement between two people to make sure they're both speaking the same language and can understand each other. It's like if two different people were in a room but used different languages. They couldn't understand each other. But if they agreed to only speak English, they could exchange ideas. Communication protocols do the same thing, but for computers. They help two computers understand what the other is saying so they can 'talk' back and forth.
