ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Community of Democracies

A community of democracies is a group of countries that work together to support and promote democracy around the world. Just like how you and your friends work together to make sure everyone is treated fairly and has a say in what happens, these countries do the same thing on a larger scale.

Democracy means that everyone gets a chance to vote and have a say in how their country is run. It also means that people have certain rights, like the right to speak their mind and the right to practice their own religion. So, when these countries work together as a community, they try to make sure that other countries are also able to have democracy and these same rights.

Sometimes, countries might not have democracy or might not treat their people fairly. When this happens, the community of democracies might try to help by offering support or advice, or even by applying pressure on that country's leaders to change their ways.

By working together, the community of democracies is trying to create a better world where everyone has a voice, everyone is treated with respect, and everyone has the chance to lead a good life.
