Compadrazgo

Compadrazgo is a special relationship between two families or two people, like being best friends. It's like having an extra set of parents or siblings who are not related to you by blood, but by a strong bond of love and trust.

When people become compadres, it means that they have become godparents to each other's children. This usually happens during a baptism or a first communion ceremony in the Catholic Church. The godparents promise to guide and support the child throughout their lives, just like their own parents would.

From that moment on, the two families are considered to be part of the same extended family. They may celebrate important events together, like birthdays, weddings, and holidays. They may also help each other in times of need, like when someone is sick or needs financial help.

In some cultures, like in Mexico and the Philippines, compadrazgo is a big deal. It's a way of creating strong social networks that can last for generations. People take their role as godparents very seriously, and it's considered a great honor to be asked to become one.
