Comparative statics

Comparative statics is a way of measuring how changes to one thing can affect another. Think of it like comparing two statics (numbers, measurements) that are related. For example, if we wanted to measure how a change in the price of apples affects the demand for apples, we could do a comparative static. We could start by looking at the current demand for apples at the current price, and then compare it to the potential new demand for apples if the price changes. Comparative statics is a way of measuring how these things are connected and how they change when they're connected.
