Compassion-focused therapy

Compassion-focused therapy is a special kind of therapy where someone helps you feel more understanding and kind to yourself when you are having a hard time. It's like having a friend who helps you see that you don't have to be perfect to be loved or happy.

Let's say you're feeling really upset about something you did wrong. Instead of beating yourself up and telling yourself you're bad, a compassion-focused therapist would help you see that it's okay to make mistakes and that everyone messes up sometimes. They would try to help you see that you don't have to be so hard on yourself and that showing yourself kindness and understanding is actually really important for feeling better.

Compassion-focused therapy can be helpful for people who are struggling with things like anxiety, self-doubt, depression, or low self-esteem. It's all about learning to show yourself the same kind of compassion and care that you would show a good friend.
