Complication (horology)

Think of a watch like a puzzle with lots of different pieces. Each of those pieces has to work perfectly with all the others to make the watch tell time accurately. Now imagine that there are even more of those puzzle pieces, all working together in different ways to do things like show the date, set an alarm, or measure how long something takes. That's what a complication is!

Creating complications is a really hard thing to do, and it takes a lot of skill and patience from watchmakers.
