ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Component-oriented database

A component-oriented database is kind of like a box with lots of smaller boxes inside. Each of the smaller boxes has one type of data inside it. For example, in a website database, one of the small boxes might have all the pictures stored in it, and another box might have all the user information, like names, age, and address. This helps the computer find the right things quickly, because everything is organized into different boxes.
