A jet engine is like a giant fan that propels a plane through the air. It has lots of different parts that all help it to do its job.
The first part of a jet engine is the fan blades. These spin around really fast and suck air in.
The next part is the compressor. This pressurizes the air and makes it really hot.
Then the fuel gets pumped in and is mixed with the air. This makes it combust, or light up like a fire.
The combustion chamber is where the fire happens. It is like a big balloon that contains all the hot air and fuel and makes them really powerful.
The last part is the exhaust. This is like the exhaust pipe of the car, but for a plane. It pushes the hot gases and air out of the engine and gives the plane thrust and power to fly.
