ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Compound-term processing

Compound-term processing is a way to look at how words are connected and put together in a sentence or phrase. For example, if you want to say "school bus", you can't just say the two words separately like "school" and "bus" - you have to put them together as one word for it to make sense. Compound-term processing tries to figure out if a group of words like these should be treated as one single word, or if each one should be treated separately. It can help computers understand what people are saying more easily.
