Compton scattering
Compton scattering is a type of interaction between particles. It happens when a photon (a particle of light) collides with an electron. When the photon hits the electron, it gives some of its energy to the electron, which makes the electron go faster and makes the photon go slower. This is how energy is transferred between the two particles.
