Computer Associates Int. Inc. v. Altai Inc.

Computer Associates International Inc v. Altai, Inc is a court case from 1992 involving two companies. Computer Associates International Inc (CA) and Altai, Inc. were two software companies. CA claimed that Altai had copied its software, so it sued. In the court case, CA argued that Altai had copied parts of its software, and then used these parts in their own software. Altai said that they had not copied CA's software and that the similarities were coincidences or there was an independent invention. In the end, the court ruled in CA's favor and decided that Altai had violated copyright law and had to pay money to CA.
