ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Conditional sentence

Have you ever heard someone say "if this, then that"? That's what a conditional sentence is! It's a sentence that talks about what could happen if a certain condition is met.

Let's say you want to go outside and play, but it's raining. Your mom might say "if it stops raining, then you can go play outside." That's a conditional sentence! The condition is that the rain stops, and if that happens, then you can go outside and play.

Another example could be if you clean up your toys, then you can have a cookie. The condition here is that you need to clean up your toys, and if you do, then you can have a cookie as a reward.

So basically, a conditional sentence is just a sentence that talks about what could happen if something else happens first. It's like a little game of cause and effect!
